International Radiophonic Creation Day is a biennal event honouring radio creation on its widest sense : soundscape, Hörspiel, radio drama, experimental music, various sounds etc…
La Journée Internationale de la Création Radiophonique est une biennale mettant à l'honneur la création radiophonique au sens large : paysages sonores, Hörspiels, fictions, musiques expérimentales, ovnis sonores etc….
A struggling art form / Un genre en lutte
The inevitable change to digital radio is soon to come to Europe. This will eventually endanger a great number of local and community stations. And yet, it is thanks to these deliberate initiatives that sparks of sound creation still live. All of these works, made for the radio, are what's called radiophonic creation.
For the second edition of this event, the association JEL selected works of radio artists from all over the world and build up a 24h programming specifically made up of radiophonic creations. This will be aired on June 4th 2011 simultaneously on numerous FM radio stations and web radios around the world (see below).
This festival not only gives the chance to get an insight of what radiophonic creation sounds like today, but also to reach a wider audience of non-insiders. It is thus a way of making people aware of the cultural richness that these radio stations can bring to today's radiophonic landscape.
Le moment inévitable du passage à la radio numérique en Europe approche. Ce passage au numérique va mettre en péril bon nombre de radios associatives et radio locales (catégories A et B). Or, c'est aussi au sein de ces initiatives volontaires que naissent ces étincelles de créations sonores inventées pour la radio que l'on nomme : création radiophonique. L'association JEL, pour la deuxième édition de ce festival, a selectionné des pièces d'artistes de radio venant de tous pays, pour constituer une programmation de 24h consacrée uniquement à la création radiophonique. Cette programmation sera diffusée simultanément le 4 juin 2011, de minuit à minuit, sur de nombreuses radios FM et web radios dans le monde (voir liste si dessous). Ce festival est non seulement un moyen de donner à entendre un aperçu de cette scène de la création radiophonique contemporaine internationale, mais aussi de sensibiliser à cet art un public plus large que le public d'initiés qu'il engendre habituellement. Ainsi rendre comte de la richesse culturelle que ces radios peuvent apporter au paysage radiophonique contemporain.
