Rainer Ganahl : UBU LENIN A Re-Enthronement of Alfred Jarry's KING LENIN

DADALENIN

As a conceptual artist, Ganahl combines academic, pedagogic, and artistic methods with current themes of modern history, living environments, and cultural coding as well as language and media.

On November 20th 2009, the artist will be performing his own unreleased theatrical performance entitled UBU LENIN A Re-Enthronement of Alfred Jarry's KING LENIN. The event takes part in DADALENIN - Rainer Ganahl’s exhibition curated by Bärbel Vischer at MAK - Österreichisches Museum fuer angewandte Kunst/Gegenwartskunst, Applied Arts, Contemporary Art, Wien - open until March 2010.

The theatrical performance by Rainer Ganahl is concerned with the tragic-comic category of history: Audience members take part in an interactive dinner with the historical figure of Lenin and Dadaists at MAK Columned Main Hall.
